Spend a few minutes reading to Cali and her owner, Karma. They will be visiting us the first Saturday of each month from 11:00 am - noon. Young readers have been found to have improved reading skills after reading repeatedly to a dog. Other studies show improvements in areas of comprehension, ability to stay on task and improved behavior. For this program, there is a requirement for preregistration and each reading "slot" is 10 minutes. Registration for the upcoming month will begin on the 15th of the previous month. For example, to attend the October session, participants may begin registering on September 15th (if this falls on a Sunday or holiday, registration begins on the next business day). Call or stop by the library to register. A liability waiver will need to be signed at each session by child's parent or legal guardian. Each child will need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the entirety of the child's reading session. You may bring a book from home, choose one from our library or pick one that we will have on display. Please call or stop by and speak to Valorie or Tina if you have questions regarding this program.
